
General Info
This type of bird is a medium size parrot. They are highly intelligent and are very trainable, playful and affectionate. They are relatively easy to care for, and they are very social. They love and enjoy spending time with their owners. They can be great with children.

Natural habitat
Conures are from Central and South America, they are found from Mexico to Argentina, specifically Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina and Paraguay. They are typically found in forests and woodlands. They typically live in flocks of about 10-20 birds. They usually nest in tree cavity’s which protect them from predators.
Overall description
There are many different types of conures, i.e. Sun, Green Cheek, Cherry-Head, Half-Moon, Nanday, and Jenday to name a few. They are a very affectionate, attention seeking and vocal.
Conures are known for their slender build, long pointed tails and bright colors. Most types of conures have a featherless ring around their eyes, called an “eye ring”. They range in size of about 10 inches to 20 inches, and they can live from 20 to 30 years.

Speech and Sounds
Conures aren’t known as a very talkative birds, but that can very from species to species or even bird to bird. They are able to be taught to speak a few words and do whistles.
Colors
Their colors usually range from blues, greens, reds, oranges, and yellows.
With the many different species of conures there are a wide variety of colors, and each species have there different mutations as well.
Care and Feeding
Conures need a balanced diet of a high quality pellets, fruits/veggies, the occasional treat, and plenty of fresh water. They can also have seed but be careful of the amount as they can be fattening for them. Conures need plenty of opportunity’s to bathe as well, so get a mister bottle and/or the faucet of your sink and let them have fun!
Conures are a very active birds so they require plenty of space in their cage along with toys, and perches for them to play on and with. The perches need to have various sizes and widths so their feet don’t get sores. Make sure to keep their cage and food dishes clean so there isn’t any bacterial growth. Their nails should be trimmed and if needed their beaks as well. Keep an eye on your bird for signs of illness.

Personality & Behavior
They are known for being playful, social, and active. They are also known as “The life of the party” because of their curious, bold, and vocal nature. They are an intelligent bird that loves to interact and mimicking their owners, they love getting scritches and cuddles from their favorite people. They can be taught tricks like dancing, waves, spin, and many others.
Conures have a very loud and piercing squawk so be aware of that. They have the potential for biting when board, threatened, or uncomfortable. Males especially can become territorial of their cage and their favorite person.
